Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework

The department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework (the framework) was launched by the Director-General in February 2009. The purpose of the framework is to:

  • acknowledge, value and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and peoples
  • support staff to develop and implement policies, programs and services to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.

The framework is based on the development of knowledge, skills and behaviours around three core capabilities:

  • cultural considerations
  • communication and
  • fostering partnerships.
