Kate Harrison received the Queensland Government Outstanding Achievement (Individual) Award as part of the 2011 Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards. Kate was recognised for her work with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, recognising excellence in outdoor recreation.

Five-year-old Chelsea got into the 'Grandparents Rock' theme with some rock painting. Grandfather Nev Abbey was among the many people who celebrated Grandparents Day at a festival in Townsville on 6 November. Grandparents Day is an annual celebration of the commitment of grandparents, including those who raise grandchildren.

The Governor-General officially opened IMPACT’s new training and administration centre in August which features a purpose-built workshop, commercial training kitchen, function room, training room and staff accommodation. The IMPACT choir made its debut performance at the event.

The Queensland Multicultural Awards recognise the great work of Queenslanders who are promoting multiculturalism. This year’s awards ceremony was held in Brisbane in November. Attending the event (right) were Turrbal Elder Uncle Joe Kirk and Nick Xynias of the Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland.
