Townsville’s Susan Thomas has returned from the World Field Archery Championship victorious.
The 47-year-old, who only took up the sport a year ago, bagged a gold medal in her class of the Ladies Bare Bow Recurve.
“It was an extremely difficult and dangerous course,” Susan said. “If you fell down — and I did — only the trees, a big boulder or a dry creek bed stopped you. A bit more than my ego got bruised!
But shooting off castle turrets was excellent; the most exciting experience ever.”
The Australian team won the overall championship by 14 points.
