Disability and Community Care Services is part of the Department of Communities. We contribute to creating a more inclusive Queensland by developing policies, programs and services that support people with a disability, people with a mental illness and people who are frail aged, and their families and carers.
We work in partnership with non-government service providers to help support those most in need through providing accommodation support, respite and community and home care services.
Within Disability and Community Care Services:
- the Policy and Performance area is responsible for policy development and coordination and includes the Office for Carers, Shared Visions conferences and forums, development and implementation of legislation and whole-of-government disability service plans, support for Ministerial councils and committees, and the development of the National Disability Agreement and service area policy initiatives
- the Disability Programs and Reform area is responsible for delivering programs and projects including Growing Stronger, the Disability Sector Quality System and Output Funding Reform, and managing the DISQIS system, Individual, Family and Community Programs, and the Community and Specialist Services Program
- the Home and Community Care and Community Mental Health Programs and Reform area is responsible for delivering programs, reform implementation, and grants administration.
Our services and programs are delivered through seven regions.
