The Director of Forensic Disability

The Director of Forensic Disability is a statutory role under the Forensic Disability Act 2011

The role of the Director is to:

  • ensure the protection of the rights of clients detained in the Forensic Disability Service
  • ensure the proper and efficient administration of the Forensic Disability Act 2011
  • monitor and audit compliance with the Act
  • promote community awareness and understanding of the Act.  

In exercising these powers the Director of Forensic Disability is not under the direction of the Director-General but reports annually on the administration of the Act to the Minister for Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.

The Director is responsible for issuing a number of statutory policies, directives and practice guidelines.
