Our commitments, goals and key priorities
The Department of Communities works to strengthen and protect the wellbeing of Queenslanders, particularly those who are vulnerable and most in need.
The Department of Communities 2011–2015 Strategic Plan outlines our strategic objectives, policy intents and priority strategies over the next four years to achieve our vision of fair, cohesive and vibrant Queensland communities.
We contribute to whole-of-government initiatives and targets by working toward our goals:
- For our clients: improved wellbeing, safety, health and community participation of Queenslanders, particularly for vulnerable and disadvantaged people
- For communities: improved sustainability, liveability, prosperity and cohesion in Queensland communities
- For our partners: improved capability, sustainability and productivity of human and other services and systems in Queensland.
Organisational arrangements
Our organisational arrangements consist of the following service delivery areas:

- Housing and Homelessness Services
- Disability and Community Care Services and Multicultural Affairs Queensland
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services
