The Department of Communities, through Communities' Property Portfolio, manages the largest residential property portfolio in the State. Communities' Property Portfolio is responsible for the strategic management of the department's property portfolio, delivery of the capital investment program and promotion of best practice in residential design.
Communities' Property Portfolio is the strategic manager of the social housing portfolio that consists of approximately 55,000 dwellings and 1,400 vacant blocks of land, and provides housing stock to the department's service delivery arms.

- Development
- Investment delivery
- Asset management
- Asset information.
The department utilises other government agencies to deliver capital works and maintenance activities. These include Project Services and QBuild in the Department of Public Works.
