Social Housing Programs is responsible for the funding, development and program management of one social housing system in Queensland. The aim is to create an efficient, responsive and targeted system, integrated with a range of supports, so that people most in need receive appropriate and sustainable housing and the assistance required to improve their lives.
Social Housing Programs provides the operational policy and performance framework for planning, delivering and managing social rental housing programs. Assistance is based on the needs of the client for the duration of their need.
A key focus of Social Housing Programs is developing a robust not-for-profit housing sector in Queensland. Strategies designed to assist the sector include grant funding to deliver housing, head leasing department-owned properties, assisting with growth activities for registered providers and administering standards and accreditation requirements.
