Households benefit from NRAS

More than 280 households have benefited from the National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS), which aims to stimulate the supply of up to 50,000 new affordable rental dwellings across Australia by 2012.

Under the Australian Government scheme, successful providers receive a National Rental Incentive for each approved dwelling, on the condition that they are rented to eligible low and moderate income households at 20 per cent below market rent.

All States and Territories have agreed to participate in NRAS and, to date, Queensland has approved 2,421 homes under the scheme, with more than 270 already online.
