Queensland Government
Department of Housing and Public Works

A range of reforms and improvements to the Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service (Queensland) [TAAS(Q)] have begun with the commencement of new Common Service Agreement and Program Guidelines on 1 October 2011.

The new guidelines articulate the output funding model for the TAAS(Q) program, with service providers now funded to deliver services against two nominated outputs:

1. Housing/tenancy information, advice and referral - general information, advice and advocacy (one-on-one or in groups).

2. Individual advocacy - information, advice and advocacy delivered through one-on-one consultation with clients.

The TAAS(Q) program reforms include changes to the service delivery model, funding model, reporting regime and a number of key governance requirements, such as service planning and risk management.

These reforms will reduce the administrative burden and cost of reporting and will enable providers to focus their attention on what they do best - delivering quality service to clients.

The Department of Communities is committed to working with service providers over the coming months to address any issues that arise during the organisation’s move to an output funding model.
