Round four of the National Rental Affordability Scheme

The Australian Government recently announced 5,713 successful Queensland applicants who will receive financial incentives to build affordable rental dwellings. These properties must be delivered by June 2014.

This brings the total number of incentives approved in Queensland areas of high need to 11,311.

Since the beginning of the scheme, over 1000 Queensland low-to-medium income families have moved into newly-built properties at 20% below market rent.

A number of community housing providers are either approved participants or providing property or tenancy management for properties built through round four of the National Rental Affordability Scheme. A list of approved tenancy managers is available on the department’s website, along with information for prospective tenants

It is expected that over 1000 properties, including units, townhouses and three and four-bedroom houses will become available for occupancy between November 2011 and June 2012.

For a list of properties available now or in the near future, including photos and tenancy manager details please visit the National Rental Affordability Scheme - Queensland website.

The department has information and online forms for clients to check their eligibility and apply to become an approved prospective tenant under the scheme in Queensland. Alternatively, prospective tenants should phone 1300 880 882 to check their eligibility and request an application pack.
