The new strategic direction for social housing in Queensland will reshape the social housing system and provide a platform for community housing providers to play a greatly expanded role in the delivery of housing assistance.
The key elements of the reform agenda are:
- Introduction of the National Regulatory System for community housing providers
- Reform of program and funding settings to cut red tape and shift to a purchaser-provider model
- Realignment of the Department's service delivery functions and roles to support the new approach.
These reforms rely on a partnerships approach with providers operating as part of a well regulated, robust and viable social housing industry.
