Construction is underway and it is expected that the building will be completed and fully operational by June 2012.

To ensure that the building meets the Brisbane City Council’s vision for the activation of Hope Street, the ground floor design provides for two retail tenancies facing Hope Street and one situated on the covered walkway between Fleet Lane and Hope Street. In other Common Ground sites, these tenancies have included convenience stores, cafes, community enterprise organisations, and health services.

Brisbane Common Ground will be a positive addition to the South Brisbane neighbourhood. In other Common Ground locations, people and groups from the surrounding community have come to value the buildings and the tenants as part of the local community, and have benefited from the meeting spaces and other facilities in the building.

A Local Neighbourhood Advisory Committee will be established prior to tenanting of the building to provide regular formal opportunities for neighbours to provide input into the ongoing management of the complex and work together on neighbourhood issues.
