Brisbane Common Ground is located at 15 Hope Street, South Brisbane, and is due for completion by mid-2012. This purpose-built apartment complex will feature 146 studio and one-bedroom units - half for tenants who have previously experienced chronic homelessness and the other half for low-income earners.

Eligibility for low-income earning tenants is a gross wage of less than $40,000 per year and a demonstrated need to live in the local area for work or study. All tenants will have the necessary support available to them to help them to sustain their tenancies, if required.

All tenants will be charged rent at between 25% to 30% of their income, making the housing affordable.

Brisbane Common Ground is based on the Common Ground model, which provides long-term tenancies for as long as they are needed, with access to onsite support services.

The building is funded through the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan - Social Housing Initiative which is adding approximately 4,000 additional units to Queensland’s social housing stock for high priority groups such as people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
