Deloitte Access Economics1 has been appointed by the Department of Communities to undertake an evaluation of nine Ozcare2 crisis supported accommodation services.
The purpose of the evaluation is to:
- determine whether client circumstances have improved following assistance
- inform reporting and policy
- inform practice and service delivery improvements.
Key components of the evaluation include:
- Examining service quality, efficiency, practice standards and organisational improvements.
- An outcome evaluation examining client outcomes and the impact of service improvements.
The outcome evaluation also aims to examine if clients are able to access secure housing. This information will be collected through the following two surveys of Ozcare clients:
- A satisfaction survey aiming to collect clients' views on the quality and safety of the accommodation provided. This survey will begin in August 2011.
- A longitudinal survey where evaluation team members contact consenting clients at three and six months after their stay with Ozcare to find out how helpful crisis accommodation services are in helping people to get secure accommodation and 'get back on their feet'. Recruitment for this survey will begin in July 2011.
Survey questions will include:
- What type of house are you living in?
- Have you been homeless?
- Are you working or studying?
- Do you have access to support?
If you have any questions about the evaluation or interviews, please call the Senior Evaluation Officer, Housing and Homelessness Services on (07) 3227 8898.
