Opening Doors – Queensland Strategy for Reducing Homelessness 2011-14

Homelessness is a whole-of-community problem.

Opening Doors - The Queensland Strategy for Reducing Homelessness 2011-14 (PDF, 2.9 MB) Opening Doors - The Queensland Strategy for Reducing Homelessness 2011-14 (RTF, 259 KB) has been developed to set the policy directions for reducing homelessness and the joint efforts needed for success - from communities, business groups, the not-for-profit sector and all spheres of government.

To help develop the strategy, in late 2010 the department carried out a statewide consultation process seeking views on issues outlined in a Discussion Paper (PDF, 682 KB) (RTF, 471 KB) and related Background Paper (PDF, 245 KB) (RTF, 742 KB).

Over 600 Queenslanders participated in the consultation process through attending one of eight community forums, attending targeted workshops, emailing their submission or through the Get Involved website.

The high levels of collaboration between community stakeholders and the Department of Communities was vital in developing the strategy.

A fact sheet (PDF, 468 KB) fact sheet (RTF, 23 KB) summarising the strategy is available.
