Home Access is a Department of Communities initiative which aims to assist people in the private housing market to adapt their home to meet their needs by providing financial assistance and better targeted information.
Renewal programs target large social housing communities that have been disadvantaged by poor urban and social planning. These communities generally have a high concentration of social housing properties. Through the renewals program the department endeavours to transform these areas into attractive residential neighbourhoods that are commensurate with modern community standards.
The design principles describe the Department of Communities approach to housing design. They outline some broad issues of design, dealing with how dwellings relate to the public realm, how dwellings relate to each other, and how dwellings relate to their outside environment.
The Property Standard Index is a valuable asset management tool that was developed by the former Department of Housing in conjunction with the CSIRO and Queensland University of Technology. It assists property portfolio managers to make informed strategic decisions about the management of departmental properties.
