Department of Communities (Housing and Homelessness Services) tenants can use the ClimateSmart Home Service to save energy, money and the environment. For $50, a licensed electrician will supply and install a free water and energy efficient showerhead, and supply and install up to 15 free energy efficient light globes - all in less than an hour.
The electrician will also install a wireless energy monitor for you to keep and conduct an energy audit of your home.
The service will help you reduce your home's carbon footprint. It can also help you save up to $250 on your water and energy bills a year.
Tenants in community or local-government managed housing should seek permission from their housing provider before using this service.
All tenants can find out more about the service by visiting the ClimateSmart Home Service website or phone 13 20 40.
Tenants in the Brisbane City Council area can receive a rebate to cover the $50 by providing the receipt of purchase from the ClimateSmart Home Service. Tenants can fill out the application form or phone the Brisbane City Council hotline on 3404 8888 for more information.
