Affordable homes to rent

Through the Australian Government's National Rental Affordability Scheme, up to 50,000 affordable rental dwellings will be built across Australia by 2012 to help eligible low to moderate-income earners secure a place to live.

The rent for those dwellings will be at least 20 per cent below the market rent.

New two and three-bedroom townhouses and family-sized homes are now available to rent in locations across Queensland, with more becoming available over the next two years.

In Queensland, the Department of Communities (Housing and Homelessness Services) is responsible for referring eligible applicants from the department's housing register to tenancy managers.
