Queensland Government
Department of Housing and Public Works

The Department of Communities has a new service to help people find a place to rent in the private market.

RentConnect provides information and practical advice on how to find and apply for a suitable property to rent.

RentConnect staff can help clients fill out rental application forms and put them in touch with local real estate agents and community services.

Following the successful trial of RentConnect in Rockhampton and Caboolture in 2008, the department is now expanding the RentConnect Advisory Service to a further 12 locations across Queensland.

From early this year, RentConnect will be established in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville and Cairns. Later in the year, the service will be established in Mackay, Logan, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay-Burnett and West Moreton.

RentConnect officers will be available by appointment to provide one-on-one assistance to clients who are struggling to find a home to rent in the private market.

Clients could include people who may be able to afford the rent but for example, have problems finding a suitable property for a large family. People, particularly young people, who have no rental history, may find it difficult to show they will be good tenants.
