Get involved through tenant participations

Tenant group representatives at a cultural awareness session in 2006

There are many opportunities for tenants across the State to be involved with their local communities through tenant participation. All Department of Housing tenants and household members are welcome to participate in their local tenant group.

Some of the activities that tenant groups are involved with include organising educational and community activities and providing feedback to the department on housing policies and service delivery.

From the local level, the network of tenant groups extends through to regional and statewide representation. Regional groups are made up of representatives of each local tenant group in the region managed by their area office. A representative from each regional group is nominated by its members to form the Queensland Public Tenants Association (QPTA). The QPTA is the peak organisation representing the interests of Department of Housing tenants in Queensland.

If you are interested in joining a local tenant group, contact your nearest Department of Housing office for details.
