132 500 is now the only number Queensland residents need to call for help from their local State Emergency Service (SES) during floods and storms.
Queensland is no stranger to natural events and disasters, and the SES provides a vital emergency response to communities during storm and flood emergencies.
In July, Queensland joined the National 132 500 SES Telephone Number Network.
Frank Pagano, Executive Director, Emergency Management Queensland said the introduction of the 132 500 common telephone number for the SES is an important step.
"By having a single common number, it means you only have to remember this one number no matter where you are and the SES is only a phone call away in times of flood and storm emergencies," Mr Pagano said.
Eddie Bennet, Director of the SES, said this number has been progressively introduced across Australia, and the Queensland SES is proud to join the national framework.
"Previously, a person who needed assistance from a storm or flood event had to try and locate their local SES group telephone number— 132 500 will now simplify that process with only one number to remember," Mr Bennet said.
Triple zero (000) remains the number to call for life-threatening emergencies but for help from the SES please call 132 500.
