Annual property inspections

Housing and Homelessness Services staff are required to check on the condition of your rental property at least once a year.

During the inspection, staff make note of the condition and standard of your premises. This is done to identify the long-term maintenance needed for the property and does not cover routine repairs needed to your home. If you think your property needs any routine repairs, such as to a leaking roof or dripping tap, call your usual Housing Services maintenance number to report your concerns.

The department aims to make inspections at times convenient to tenants, wherever possible.

An Entry Notice will be sent to tenants advising of the date and time of the inspection.

If the date and time are not suitable, please contact your nearest Housing Services office as soon as possible to arrange a different inspection time. Alternatively, you may also arrange for another adult to be home at that time.

For safety reasons, please remember that dogs must be secured when Housing Services staff visit your home.
