Tenant Participation Program review – summary report and recommendations

In late 2010, the department carried out a state-wide consultation seeking the views of tenants, registered housing providers, community organisations and interested people about how the Tenant Participation Program could be enhanced.

Based on this feedback, the department has released a ‘Tenant Participation Program Review – Summary Report and Recommendations’ (PDF, 4.3 MB) ‘Tenant Participation Program Review – Summary Report and Recommendations’ (RTF, 928 KB) which presents the findings of the review and makes recommendations for a renewed program.

 The renewed program will:

  • provide opportunities to increase the economic independence and self development of tenants through capacity building activities
  • encourage engagement, volunteering and social inclusion to help tenants play a greater role in their tenancies and communities and reduce isolation
  • provide opportunities for social housing tenants to be involved in policy, planning and program development activities.

Implementation of the renewed program will commence in early 2012.
