The benefits of increased investment in social housing through the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan – Social Housing Initiative include more housing for people in need, secured jobs and apprenticeships, upgraded and well-maintained social housing homes, and shorter waiting times for applicants.
Under the Social Housing Initiative, we are building predominately one and two-bedroom units which are designed to maximise accessibility for people with impaired mobility. They will also be located close to transport, work opportunities, schools and other services.
Properties will become progressively available up until June 2012.
