How to register for the National Rental Affordability Scheme

If you would like to apply to rent a property through the National Rental Affordability Scheme, you will first need to register with the Department of Housing and Public Works, Housing Services, by completing the NRAS online registration form.

Please note: to submit your application, you must agree to be bound by the Personal Information Privacy Notice and Declarations.

Once registered as an eligible NRAS client you can then apply to rent a property under the Scheme. When you submit your application to the tenancy manager, you will be required to provide documentation that verifies your identity and household income and sign a declaration form that all the information you have provided is true and correct, before an offer of tenancy can be made.

Please be aware that in December 2012 the Australian Government made a correction to the household income limits. These revised income limits will apply to all new applications for NRAS tenancies irrespective of when your NRAS registration was granted. Prospective tenants can seek details of properties currently available in Queensland by visiting National Rental Affordability Scheme Properties for Rent on realestate.com.au. These dwellings are listed by approved tenancy managers and all information regarding the dwellings can be obtained by contacting the tenancy manager directly.
