Domestic and family violence

The Queensland Government committed to a new way of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and is implementing Queensland’s Framework for Action – Reshaping our approach to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Domestic and Family Violence.

To support this approach, we are working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities and responsible agencies to co-design community-led actions for targeted responses to meet the specific needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children and families.

We are also working with agency partners to support integrated responses to improve the safety of victims and their children through our Regional Senior Project Officers who act as cultural connectors to work alongside the Domestic and Family Violence High Risk Teams, providing cultural advice and referrals and assisting local co-design of solutions.

DFV High Risk Teams are located in Ipswich, Brisbane North, Cherbourg, Mount Isa, Cairns, Caboolture, Mackay and Logan.
