Noeline Clamp

Location:
Logan Central

Noeline Clamp is known as ‘mum’ to more than 500 refugees, mostly from African countries. As a founding member of ACCES Services Inc. with her husband Des, Noeline welcomes refugees to Logan City and through compassion and friendship supports them to start a new life in Australia.

As a member of ACCES Services for more than 20 years, Noeline believes she receives more than she gives. No job is too big or too small for 72-year-old Noeline. Whether she is shopping for groceries, washing floors, cooking meals or taking a refugee to a doctor’s appointment, she shows a genuine willingness to help others which in turn inspires other people in the community to do the same.

Noeline’s positive attitude towards the refugee families has given them the confidence to start school, get jobs and begin to feel part of the local community — a huge feat when you consider many of these people have been in refugee camps for up to 20 years.

Noeline has been opening her home and her heart to the Logan community for more than 30 years. She has been a reliable and dedicated volunteer in many local community organisations, including Meals on Wheels and Nurse of the Year committee, and with her husband established the committee for the first Blue Nurses doorknock appeal in Queensland. As chair of the Queensland Cancer Fund she organised the Big Morning Tea fundraiser and also supports her local Uniting Church whenever they need help.

In today’s busy world, Noeline’s willingness to extend the hand of friendship and work tirelessly as a volunteer to support her community is an inspiration to us all.
