Peter Anderson

Location:
Broadbeach Waters

Peter Anderson is literally a lifesaver. As a dedicated volunteer surf lifesaver he has spent thousands of hours patrolling Surfers Paradise, one of the busiest beaches in Queensland. In fact, Peter has clocked up more volunteer hours than any other lifesaver in Queensland.

He has performed a countless number of rescues and is known to be vigilant and level headed in any situation. He is guaranteed to get your attention when he is on patrol, which can be any time from dawn to dusk on any day of the week. His expertise, skill and commitment are an example for all lifesaving members including the junior lifesavers he mentors at the Surfers Paradise club.

Peter exemplifies the iconic characteristics of the surf lifesaver. He is vibrant, welcoming and always in high spirits. At 70 years of age he has no trouble keeping up with the younger generation and is keen to inspire older people to take part in lifesaving to improve their health and wellbeing.

As an ambassador for Surf Life Saving Queensland, Peter interacts with people of all ages and nationalities. By educating people about water safety he has helped to save thousands of lives every year.

Peter is a hero on and off the sand. His diligence, commitment and passion for keeping Queensland beaches safe has helped Surf Life Saving Queensland provide a vital community service.
