Premier's Awards for Queensland Seniors
Senior volunteers make a significant and positive difference in many areas of the community. Whether it's through the arts, social welfare, education, or health, Queensland benefits enormously from their generous input.
Through the annual Premier's Awards for Queensland Seniors, the department acknowledges the key role many older people play in the community, in particular their voluntary contributions in Queensland.
The Premier's Awards for Queensland Seniors aims to:
- celebrate and recognise the voluntary contributions of older Queenslanders
- provide role models to inspire and encourage other older people
- challenge traditional assumptions about older people and growing older.
Hundreds of nominations for the Premier's Awards are received each year, and winners are recognised in a special ceremony in Brisbane.
Nominations have now closed for the 2008 Premier’s Awards for Queensland Seniors. The winners will be announced at an awards presentation ceremony in Brisbane on 22 October 2008.
