Where you can use your Seniors Card
Your Queensland Seniors Card or Seniors Business Discount Card is accepted at thousands of business outlets throughout Queensland. You can also use your card at some businesses participating in the Seniors Business Discount Card schemes operated by other Australian states and territories.
A Business Discount Directory for Seniors and Carers for the region where you live will be mailed to you when you receive your card. The directory lists all the participating businesses in your region and the discounts they provide to card holders.
Use Search for discounts to find businesses that offer discounts to card holders.

Seniors Card or Seniors Business Discount Card is easy to use. Simply present your card at participating businesses to access their discount offer.
Can I use my Queensland Seniors Card interstate?
Yes, many interstate businesses extend their discounts to Queensland card holders. To find out which interstate businesses recognise the Queensland Seniors Card, phone or write to the Seniors Card office in the state where you will be travelling and ask for a Card Business Discount Directory to be posted to you.
The 'map of Australia' symbol
in the discount directories indicates that a business offers a discount to all interstate card holders.
Unfortunately, you cannot use your Seniors Card to claim government concessions interstate as these are usually available only to permanent residents of each state or territory.
Saving money with Seniors Card
How can I use my card to save money?
- Participating businesses are encouraged to display 'Seniors Card Welcome Here' stickers in their shop windows or near their cash registers.
- However, the sticker may not be visible so before you shop, check your Business Discount Directory for Seniors and Carers or search for discounts online to find out which businesses in your area offer discounts to Seniors Card and Seniors Business Discount Card holders.
- If in doubt, ask the salesperson if they provide Seniors Card discounts.
- Keep your Business Discount Directory for Seniors and Carers handy, by the phone, in your glove box or handbag.
- Always present your card when you are getting a written quote, or prior to payment.
- Take your card with you when you travel. All states and territories have a Seniors Card scheme and many businesses accept cards from interstate.
If you have difficulties obtaining discounts from businesses listed in a Seniors Card Business Discount Directory, please advise the Card Services at Smart Service Queensland on 13 13 04.
Seniors Card Shopping Tips
- Always ask for the normal retail price before asking for your Seniors Card discount or presenting your card.
- Present your Seniors Card or Seniors Business Discount Card at the time of booking or prior to making a payment. Providing a discount after the transaction is completed is difficult for most businesses.
- Shop around and compare prices before making a purchase – the Seniors Card discount does not guarantee the best price. Your purchase may be cheaper elsewhere.
- It is recommended that you keep all invoices, receipts, quotes, cheque stubs, credit card receipts, guarantees, warranties and any other proof of purchase in a safe place in case you need to make a claim or seek a refund.
- Know your rights. For more information contact Office of Fair Trading on 13 13 04.
