The Beginning Coaching General Principles course has been developed to assist coaches to learn the basic skills of coaching. It is especially aimed at people coaching children. The course contains five modules, covering a range of general coaching topics including; the role and responsibilities expected of a coach, planning, safety, working with parents, communication, group management and inclusive coaching practices when working with people with a disability or special population groups.
Most coaching courses in the Get Active Queensland Accreditation Program have a pre-requisite of the Beginning Coaching General Principles that needs to be attained before the complete accreditation can be awarded. Registered teachers and current accredited Level 1, 2 or 3 coaches receive full Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) for the Coaching General Principles. Check if your course requires this pre-requisite.
Student Teachers, Teacher Aides, Volunteers, Community members, Tertiary and Senior Secondary School Students need to attain this certificate to receive the coaching accreditation.
The Department of Communities (Sport and Recreation Services) conduct from time to time across Queensland FREE Coaching General Principles Courses.
