Volunteer Linking Services

If you are interested in volunteering for a sport or recreation organisation in your community or need a volunteer, the following services aim to connect people, resources and organisations to benefit and strengthen our communities through volunteering:

State Sport or Recreation Organisation

For more information on becoming an active volunteer in a club or organisation in your local area contact the State Sport or Recreation Organisation for the sport that you are interested in.

Sport, Fitness and Recreation Volunteering Portal

Volunteers and sport and recreation community organisations needing volunteers can register on the portal developed by The Queensland Fitness, Sport and Recreation Skills Alliance and Volunteering Queensland, in partnership with key peak bodies in sport and recreation and supported by the Queensland Government. To find volunteering opportunities and to register your community organisation, visit the sport, fitness and recreation volunteering portal or phone Volunteering Queensland on 07 3002 7600. Volunteering Queensland also offers VolBiz, an online tool for businesses and community organisation who wish to express an interest in linking through volunteering, as well as SkillsBank, which allows you to advertise the skills you are willing to contribute as a volunteer, and allows community organisations to contact you regarding volunteering opportunities. For more information on VolBiz and SkillsBank, visit www.volunteeringqld.org.au.

Australian University Sport Workplace Training Portal

In 2009, Australian University Sport (AUS) launched the Workplace Training Portal, a completely free service that brings university students and sporting organisations together. This initiative has been successfully used by many sporting organisations to fill volunteer and intern positions throughout Australia.

AUS is inviting sporting organisations to use this free service to benefit their organisation and the next generation of sports professionals.

Check out the AUS Workplace Training Portal or for more information please contact Kathryn Lorraway, National Programs Coordinator at kathryn.lorraway@unisport.com.au or 07 3876 2610.
