Get your draft plaque approved

All plaques featuring the Queensland Government logo must be approved by the department. Follow these steps to gain approval.

Step 1 – Eight weeks before the event

  • Your departmental sport and recreation officer will contact you regarding your event opening and plaque - they will assist you in the design of the draft plaque layout in Microsoft word.
  • Draft plaques should include details relevant to your event - proposed date, logos and who will be officially opening.

Step 2 – Six weeks before the event

  • Your departmental sport and recreation officer will begin the departmental approval process regarding the proposed event dates and draft plaque.
  • Contact a plaque supplier in your local area to advise them of the job and to seek a quote and timeframe for production.
  • You can send your plaque supplier your Microsoft Word draft plaque design for quoting purposes however you should advise them that this is NOT the final design

Step 3 – Four weeks before the event

  • Your departmental sport and recreation officer will advise you of the approved event date and draft plaque.
  • Once you have departmental approval the supplier can prepare the final artwork for the plaque.
  • Send the supplier your Microsoft Word draft plaque document and also direct them to develop your plaque on this website so they can download the correct plaque artwork template in EPS format. This will ensure they have the logos and specifications to produce the plaque in accordance with Queensland Government guidelines.

Step 4 - Two weeks before the event

  • Plaque suppliers usually need approximately two weeks to print a plaque.
  • Your supplier should send you a final version of the plaque for your approval. Check the details and when you are satisfied, advise the supplier to print the plaque.

Step 5 - Prior to the event

Use the guidelines below to affix your plaque appropriately.

  • External placement of plaques
Plaques should be placed in a predominant position on the building structure where it will be seen by members and visitors to the facility. Plaques should only be affixed to built structures and not animate objects (trees etc).
  • Internal placement of plaques
Plaques should be placed in a predominant position on an internal wall either in the entry to the facility or any internal wall where it will be seen by members and visitors to the facility.
