What is the Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Program about?
The Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Program provides contributions towards the development or construction of infrastructure for participation in structured and unstructured sport or recreation.
Important dates
- 8 June 2011: Funding round for Category 1 (Minor) and Category 2 (Medium) opens
- 25 July 2011: Funding round for Category 1 (Minor) and Category 2 (Medium) closes
How much funding is available for projects?
Funding is available across the two categories and is dependent upon the total eligible costs for the project.

Who can apply?
Organisations eligible to apply include:
- a not-for-profit sport or recreation organisation
- councils
- a not-for-profit Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation
- an incorporated university sports club
- a Queensland State school
- a catholic school
- an independent school
- a not-for-profit incorporated organisation
Priorities of the Program
Due to the high demand for funding under the program, only the following high prioirty projects will be considered:
Category 1
- new spaces and places for sport and/or recreation participation
- essential player and official's amenities
- shade structures over participation spaces
Category 2
- new spaces and places for sport and/or recreation participation
- new multipurpose sports' facilities
In addition, projects to support flood and cyclone affected sport and recreation facilities where additional work is required to enable a return to full levels of activity or use, are considered a high priority under both Categories.

This application form is for both Categories under the program. Organisations applying for more than one project must complete a separate application for each project.

Important dates
- 1 January 2012: Funding period for both Categories starts
- 31 December 2012: Funding period for Category 1 (Minor) ends
- 30 June 2013: Funding period for Category 2 (Medium) ends
