Overview of all funding programs

Each year the Department provides in excess of $40 million through funding programs towards new and improved opportunities for people to participate in sport and active recreation.

    • Young Athlete Assistance Program

      The program assists young athletes in Queensland who have completed at a State or State School Championship, National or National School Championship or International Championship.

    • Children in Care Initiative

      The Department of Communities allocates $300,000 funding per year to help children in care participate in sport and recreational activities.

    • Active Inclusion Program

      The Sport and Recreation Active Inclusion Program supports communities by providing funding for activities that encourage greater participation, education and training, and volunteer development and recruitment to increase access to sport and active recreation by the community.

    • Local Sport and Recreation Jobs Plan

      The Local Sport and Recreation Jobs Plan assists a cluster of local community organisations, councils, and builds capacity of organisations through the employment of a Local Sport and Recreation Coordinator.

    • Infrastructure Program

      The Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Program provides contributions towards the development or construction of infrastructure for participation in structured and unstructured sport or recreation.

    • Flood Funding

      Help is available to assist sport and recreation clubs to re-establish facilities and repair or replace equipment which has been damaged in the floods.

    • State S&R Organisation Development Program

      The State Sport and Recreation Organisation Development Program 2011-2013 provides funding to State Sport and Active Recreation Organisations to promote and support the development of healthy and socially inclusive communities through sport and recreation activities and programs.

    • Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program

      The Disaster Assistance Program is released as required to provide assistance to local sport and recreation organisations affected by natural disasters to enable them to continue to deliver sport and recreation opportunities within their community.

  • Industry Peak Body Funding

    The Industry Peak Body Funding provides support to the two recognised Industry Peak Bodies for sport and recreation (Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation and QSport) to work in partnership with the Queensland Government to develop their sector of the sport and active recreation industry at all levels across Queensland.
