Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing

The Department of Communities has looked at a number of existing Junior Sport Policies from clubs and associations and generated a generic model (DOC, 103 KB) for a junior sport policy.

If you don't already have a Junior Sport Policy, this downloadable document may help your organisation develop one. Even if you already have one, there may be something in the model that you might want to add or use to rewrite some part of the policy.

National Junior Sport Framework

The Australian Sports Commission has finalised the National Junior Sport Framework replacing the 1994 National Junior Sport Policy. The National Junior Sport Framework is being used by a number of national sport bodies to review their existing policies or to write a new policy.

The Framework is made up of:

  • briefing papers written by experts on issues related to the delivery of junior sport with input from major stakeholders in Australian junior sport
  • guidelines based on the research provided in the briefing papers
  • a template to help national, state and local sporting organisations to develop a junior sport policy.

More information on the Framework is available from the Australian Sports Commission website.

As more organisations begin to use the National Junior Sport Framework, we will revise our generic model to incorporate examples from real associations and clubs.
