People affected by domestic and family violence can seek support by contacting dvconnect:

- 24-hour telephone service for people experiencing domestic and family violence. This service provides referral, including refuge referral to women and their children who are in danger, information and counselling

- provides advice on relationships, health, domestic and family violence to men
- Kidsline 1800 551 800:
- free call available 24-hours for counseling, support and information
dvconnect
dvconnect receives funding from the department to provide a telephone service to people affected by domestic and family violence. This service is an important part of a network of domestic and family violence services operating throughout Queensland.
Regional and domestic and family violence services
Many of these services also have information on counselling services available for people who use domestic and family violence in relationships.
Immigrant Women's Support Service (IWSS) - 07 3846 3490
IWSS is a community based organisation which works with women and children of non-English speaking background who are or have been in violent domestic situations and/or have experienced rape and/or sexual assault. It is a crisis and support service which provides culturally appropriate support, information, short-term counselling and referral.
Court support services
A network of 15 court assistance services has been funded to provide court-based information and support to people experiencing domestic and family violence who are accessing Magistrates Courts for a protection order under the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 1989.
Refuges
Women's refuges are a safe place for women and children escaping domestic and family violence. The Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) provides funding for 52 services, mostly refuges, for women and children escaping domestic violence across Queensland. The refuges are run by a variety of organisations including churches and community based organisations, which are jointly funded by the Queensland and Commonwealth Governments. Women seeking refuge should contact dvline or their local regional domestic violence service.
Counselling
Counselling is offered for women, children and men by other community agencies throughout Queensland in addition to those services offered by specific domestic violence services. All of these services have branches in most major centres and offer specialist domestic and family violence counselling. These services include:
