Indigenous Women's Mentoring and Leadership Workshops

The next step in Community Leadership

In 2011 the Office for women provided a series of accredited workshops to Queensland Indigenous women with essential mentoring skills to lead their communities.

The Strong voices - Strong Women Indigenous Women's Mentoring and Leadership Workshops complement the Community Leadership Seminars that the Office for Women has been delivering in Indigenous communities since 2006.

The workshops, delivered in partnership with Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, were designed to provide Indigenous women with the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to help inspire and guide the development of other women and girls in their communities.

I gained a lot from completing the mentoring course not only the skills needed to be a mentor but also everyday skills that I can use in my career.

- Indigenous Women's Mentoring and Leadership Workshop participant, 2010.
