The Office for Women's Women on Boards strategy supports women's leadership and aims to increase the number of women appointed to Queensland Government boards.

The strategy ensures that, where possible, 50 per cent of all new appointments to Queensland Government boards, councils and committees are women.

The Women on Boards strategy was approved by Cabinet on 10 July 2006.

The Office for Women oversees the implementation of the strategy and develops strategies for increasing women's representation. We achieve this by:

  • actively engaging with qualified Queensland women and encouraging them to consider board appointments
  • implementing and supporting initiatives which build women's capabilities to nominate and successfully compete for boards
  • promoting the benefits of women in leadership roles and women in business.

So if you're a Queensland woman interested in obtaining a board position, why not register with the Office for Women's Women on Boards mailing list to be considered for nomination for Queensland Government board appointments?

With more than 400 Queensland Government boards in existence, you can make a difference by getting on board!
