About the DFV councils

The Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council

On 22 November 2019, the Premier and Minister for Trade announced the establishment of the new Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Council to oversee the next phase of the Queensland Government’s domestic and family violence reform agenda.

The Prevention Council is co-Chaired by Ms Kay McGrath OAM and Mr Bob Atkinson AO APM, and its members include the following representatives from key sectors in the community and government:

  • Ms Lynette Anderson
  • Mr Saliman Bin Juda
  • Magistrate Trevor Black
  • Ms Penny Carr
  • Ms Rachel Durdin
  • Ms Faiza El-Higzi OAM
  • Ms Dianne Fletcher
  • Miss Karni Liddell
  • Dr Wendell Rosevear OAM
  • Ms Karyn Walsh AM.

The Prevention Council includes ex-officio members representing Queensland Government agencies with domestic and family violence reform responsibilities. These agencies are:

  • Department of the Premier and Cabinet
  • Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women
  • Queensland Police Service.

The Domestic and Family Violence Implementation Council

The Implementation Council was established to monitor and champion the implementation of the 140 recommendations from the Not Now, Not Ever: Putting an End to Domestic and Family Violence in Queensland report. The Implementation Council's term ended on 30 November 2019, with all recommendations from the Not Now, Not Ever report delivered.
