Christmas can be a difficult time of year for children and young people who can't live with their own families.

The Queensland Government's annual Kids in Care Gift Donation Drive encourages all Queenslanders to donate a gift so that every child living in care receives an extra Christmas present under the tree.

In addition to gifts purchased by our wonderful foster and kinship carers, we too can show children and young people how much we care.

More than 9500 gifts are needed.

Would you like to donate a gift, but you're not sure what to get? Think about what you might buy for your own child, niece or nephew? Gift vouchers make a great gift, particularly for teenagers.

For more gift ideas to the value of about $20, for boy and girls of different ages, go to www.qld.gov.au/bringasmiletoachild

The Queensland Government has partnered with GIVIT to support the gift donation drive. If you can't deliver a gift in person, you can make a donation from the GIVIT website.

Donations will be accepted at Child Safety Service Centres across the state until Friday 6 December 2019.

We all have a role to play to ensure children and young people feel important and valued.

Donate now and bring a smile to a child this Christmas!
