Queensland Youth Week (QYW), to be held from 1 to 9 April 2020, is an annual celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 and the positive contributions they make to Queensland communities.

In 2019, there were more than 200 events held across Queensland. In 2020, we're aiming for an even bigger event.

The theme for Queensland Youth Week 2020 (QYW20) is 'Yeah the youth!' – It's a call to friendship, strength and unity between young people and a celebration of who they are and what they offer to our great state.

Make it your youth week

QYW20 is off to a great start!

Our artwork competition winner and runners-up have been announced.

Congratulations to 16 year-old North Ipswich artist Hanna Jones who has taken out the top prize! Hanna's artwork will be featured in all promotional materials for QYW20 across the state.

QYW20 grant recipients have also been announced. Communities across the state will benefit from 25 youth-focused projects that have been funded as part of QYW20.

If you want to be involved in the Queensland Youth Week 2020 celebrations, you can register your event in the event calendar.

We have more exciting activities to be announced, so stay in contact with us to keep up with all the latest news.

Queensland Youth Strategy

In 2017 we released the Queensland Youth Strategy following the largest youth consultation ever undertaken for a Queensland strategy. Over 1,200 young people told us what was important to them.

From that feedback we developed 4 Building Blocks which form the heart of the strategy:

  1. Supporting our most vulnerable young people
  2. Housing
  3. Healthy futures
  4. Educating into employment.

Young people also told us they want to continue to have input into matters that affect them. We launched the Youth eHub in 2017 as a platform for young people to engage with government.
