Advancing Queensland: an age-friendly community grants program

The Advancing Queensland: an age-friendly community grants program provides funding for local projects and initiatives to enhance the age-friendliness of communities across Queensland.

Over 3 years from 2017-18, $1 million per annum will be made available through open funding rounds to seed fund community projects involving partnerships between local government, community and other organisations to co-develop, implement and promote innovative age-friendly projects.

Each year, the age-friendly community grants program will focus on 2 to 3 age-friendly domains. The 2017-18 grant round focuses on innovative approaches, responses and solutions to local issues with a specific focus on Transport, Outdoor Spaces and Buildings and Housing domains.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 2 June 2017.

Who is eligible to apply?

Grants are open to organisations who can display a strong correlation between their project and benefits to the population of older people. Some examples include:

  • community groups
  • local councils
  • non-government organisations
  • research institutions and universities
  • for-profit organisations within the private sector.

Successful applicants

Funding outcomes for the 2017-18 Advancing Queensland: an age-friendly community grants program will be announced by the Minister for Disability Services, Minister for Seniors and Minister Assisting the Premier on North Queensland, and advertised in Queensland Government publications and websites.

All successful applicants will be required to:

  • enter into an agreement with our department, including grant particulars and terms and conditions
  • acknowledge government funding by placing the Queensland Government crest on all publicity and promotional resources produced for the project (submit a logo request and an electronic version of the crest will be provided).
