Organisational Information

Madec is a Community Business which aims to develop people and communities by providing services for Youth at Risk and People with Disabilities as well as being a RTO providing training for Industry.

MADEC’s Current Programs are:

Disability

  • Post School Support and Community Access packages which provide assistance with daily living skills based on Individual Lifestyle Plans.
  • Accommodation Support is designed to assist individuals with maintaining the regular requirements and routines of their daily lives within the home environment.
  • NAC (Night-time Attendant Care) provides a “tuck-in-service” to those clients that require assistance to go to bed after the regular hours of their other supports.
  • Centre Based Respite for ages from zero to 25 at the John E Smith Respite Home provides individuals with a “home-away-from-home” environment.
  • In Home Respite Services for ages from zero to 65 to allow parents and carers to leave their home for short periods of time.
  • Flexible Respite Services for ages from zero to 65 usually occurs outside the client’s home and is focused on providing supports to access individual activities for short periods of time.
  • DASP (Daytime Attendant Support Program) provides daytime support services that assists individuals with personal care and other supports to meet the requirements of their daily routine.
  • My First Day at Respite engages young children and their families in a way that increases the likelihood of them accessing respite services and provides a positive alternative should a crisis arise in the future.
  • MAKO provides learning opportunities for people with a disability aged between 18 and 65 years. It focuses on supporting and improving life skills. These learning opportunities take place in an adult learning environment and may include activities such as computer skills, sport, cooking skills, creative arts programs etc.

Youth

  • Youth Connect Panel for young people aged 10 to 25 who are at risk.
  • SupportLink provides a national referral service for police and other emergency services to reduce juvenile offending and to establish improved support for victims of crime in particular for parents/youth.

Training

  • Nationally Accredited Training Cert III through to Diploma Level in Business, Administration, and Disability Support.
  • Certificate 3 Guarantee Program for Certificate III in Business Administration and Certificate III in Disability at a very low cost to the student ($25). A Participant can be unemployed and seeking work, or working on a full-time, part-time, self-employed or casual basis. Great opportunity to skill current and new Support Workers.

Host Provider Model

Model 1 – Fully Self Directed Model

MADEC will act as finance broker/manager only.

Services Provided:

  • Establishment of the Host Provider Model.
  • Contract.
  • Initial assistance with obtaining supports.

Individuals are fully responsible for all aspects of supports including planning, budgeting, employment of own staff and all legislative requirements and obligations – including all employment, insurance and Work, Health and Safety requirements.

Model 2 – Self Directed Model

The individual accepts most of the responsibility of planning and arranging their supports with limited assistance from MADEC.
Services Provided:

  • Establishment of the Host Provider Model
  • Initial assistance with planning
  • Initial assistance with budgeting
  • Limited assistance with recruitment of own staff
  • Limited information and resources around requirements
  • Limited assistance with record keeping and acquittal processes

Individuals are able to employ their own staff and undertake their own employment requirements. Under this Model individuals will still be responsible for employment and legislative requirements including all employment, insurances and Work, Health and Safety requirements.

Model 3 – Individual has limited responsibility. MADEC will provide or source all services and supports.

Services Provided:

  • Establishment of the Host Provider Model
  • Planning
  • Budgeting
  • Provision of staff
  • Plan reviews
  • Payments to providers/suppliers
  • Record keeping and acquittal processes

MADEC will take responsibility for all employment and legislative requirements, insurances and Work, Health and Safety requirements.

Other services such as direct support hours or access to other services will be charged at the hourly rate determined by the type of service or support.

Fee Structure

Model 1 – Fully Self Directed Model

6% of total funding package - payable on a quarterly basis.

Model 2 – Self Directed Model

8% of the total grant – payable on a quarterly basis.

Model 3 – Individual has limited responsibility. MADEC will provide or source all services and supports.

12% of the total grant - payable on a quarterly basis.

One off establishment fee of $500.

MADEC will charge an Exit Fee of $1,000. The exit fee is charged only when an individual seeks to exit the service and the fee is to cover cost associated with staffing and administration.
