Organisational Information

EPIC Assist is a community based, not for profit organisation established in 1990. Since inception we have supported people with disability find and keep the job that is right for them. We operate throughout Queensland, northern New South Wales, New Zealand, and more recently we started running programs in Europe.

All the programs we deliver support the person to take charge of their lives, dream big and achieve their goals. We employ people who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. They want to come to work, deliver results that matter and are encouraged to be innovative, creative and solutions focussed.

EPIC is new to host provider services and will bring a fresh approach. Our service is personalised, creative and respectful and supports participants achieve their dreams.

Host Provider Model

Every person is able to make their own life choices. EPIC will work with participants to design and capture their life goals and then proceed to develop a scaffold of services, supports and encouragement to achieve those goals. Participants will take as much control and choice over their plan as they choose depending on their interest and/or capacity.

Our model is responsive to change and we are able to make adjustments if and when needed. EPIC works closely with a person's family and/or critical stakeholders to ensure plan and goals are authentic to the person.

In developing a plan, we focus on a person's strengths. We take into account their unique circumstances and life aspirations.

We work flexbily with the person and their family and negotiate involvement and responsibility for the range of tasks involved in bringing the plan to life. We will negotiate the level of responsibility for all plan actions. This may vary from limited to full responsibility of activity such as: fund management, payment of invoices, reporting requirements, selection of purchases and service providers, the recruitment and payment of support workers.

For participants in remote locations, we are able to support those who have the interest and capacity to take full responsibility for their plan.

EPIC planners are creative and passionate professionals who aim to support all participants achieve their goals.

Fee Structure

Establishment fee - $300 once-off initial plan set-up

This includes:

  • review of completed Personal Information Profile
  • Plan discussion and clarification of key support requirements
  • Collect and compile information
  • Complete initial service agreement
  • Provide general overview and costing of key service requirements
  • 4 hours of allocated contact time is allocated to the establishment process
  • Additional time will be charged at $55 per hour

Service Fee

There are multiple levels of service that the individuals and/or families can adopt - Minimal, Moderate and Full Support. You can choose to take full or limited responsibility for your funding. We will negotiate the level of responsibility that suits your situation. Our service fees range from 5% to 15% depending on the support level you choose.

Level 1 - Minimal Support - 5% of the total funding grant

This is where the participant takes most of the responsibility of the funding and service provision. EPIC holds and administers the funding and provides funding reports. We transfer agreed amounts to the individual/families as either advancement or reimbursement, pay invoices as approved in support plan, provide monthly financial statements to individuals/families and financial reports . The participant/family chooses their own contractors/staffing and totally runds their own service. Under this system, EPIC does not have a direct relationship to the people engaged in the provision of support or services. EPIC can provide information and support about using methods such as engaging contractors operating with an ABN, employing workers under the PAYG system, or via contracting generic services.

Level 2 - Full Support - 15% of the total funding grant

This is where EPIC provides all funding administration and coordination responsibility of services and supports on your behalf. EPIC will provide a payroll service and take on the 'legal employer' responsibilities of any staff required (e.g. support workers, key workers, coordinators). EPIC manages the recruitment and training of staff, coordination of supports and rostering. EPIC will set up and manage service brokerage agreement and liaise with service providers on your behalf. EPIC produces all necessary reports. EPIC also administers the funding paying accounts on invoices.

Level 3 - Moderate Support - 8-12% of the total funding grant

A combination of both Level 1 and 2 above. Some people may choose to take responsibility for a combination of both support levels. EPIC has the responsibility for ensuring that the negotiated level of support is financially viable, meets funding regulations and easy to use. The fee is allocated depending on the level of negotiated responsibility.

Fee notes:

Work undertaken by EPIC over and above that outlined in the service agreement is charged at a flat rate of $55/hour charged at 15 minute increments.

Complaints, conflict and resolution negotiations are charged at a flat rate of $55/hr.

No exit fees will apply and service fees will be reimbursed at a pro-rata rate from the date of service transfer, when all service actions and accountabilities on behalf of the participants will cease.

Service fees will be revised every 6 months and adjusted if needed.

If there is a requirement for specialised training, this training will be charged at the brokered rate.

All EPIC fees are charged on a monthly basis.
