Question and Answers

Can you provide more information about the peer-to-peer advocacy program mentioned at the beginning of the briefing?

Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) peer-to-peer advocacy project will assist people with disability to navigate the NDIS access and referral process, with services commenced from 1 July 2018. It supports a team of peers with disability who have in-depth knowledge of the NDIS to provide advocacy support to participants in the initial stages of their NDIS journey.

The number of participants in the Queensland Industry Trends booklet are not inclusive of children receiving initial supports through ECEI services. The NDIA report 665 children receiving ECEI services in Quarter 3 2017-18.

Is information available by region about the number of people with psychosocial disability?

Information about primary disability and the number of existing state and new/Commonwealth participants for each region can be found in the regional view section of the Queensland Industry Trends booklet.

What percentage of participant plans not yet activated are due to an internal review or external appeal of the plan and how many decisions have been referred to the appeals process?

There could be a number of factors influencing the activation of plans. The NDIS Quarterly Report 31 March 2018 (PDF) published by the NDIA includes data about unscheduled plan reviews and AAT cases and decision outcomes.
