Ongoing quality assurance requirements during NDIS transition

During the NDIS transition period, NDIS registered providers will need to demonstrate and maintain compliance with the HSQF at their own expense.

As a general rule, providers delivering registration groups that are prescribed disability services will need to achieve and maintain HSQF JAS-ANZ certification for these supports. Some exceptions may apply and these will be advised by the department on a case by case basis.

Refer to the HSQF Demonstration method table (PDF, 307 KB) Demonstration method table (RTF, 74 KB) for information on how the HSQF applies to the different NDIS Registration Groups.

New providers have up to 18 months from the date of NDIS registration approval to achieve HSQF certification. Progress in meeting this requirement will be monitored by the department.

Providers with existing HSQF certification for disability services will be required to maintain their HSQF certification and include any new NDIS supports that are prescribed disability services in the scope of their next scheduled audit.

Information about the steps involved in achieving certification is outlined in the HSQF Quality Pathway Kit for Service Providers (PDF, 985 KB) HSQF Quality Pathway Kit for Service Providers (RTF, 384 KB) . A list of certification bodies accredited by JAS-ANZ to conduct HSQF audits is available on the tools and resources page.

Further information about the quality and safeguarding framework for NDIS full scheme is available from the Australian Government, Department of Social Services website.
