Information for rural and remote communities

The NDIS will give people with disability greater choice and control over their supports, and it is important that people in small rural and remote communities have access to a full range of supports and services which provide guenuine choice.  The Community Capacity Building Toolkit (PDF, 1.2 MB) Community Capacity Building Toolkit (RTF, 210 KB) has been developed to assist communities build their capacity to deliver NDIS supports to the people living in their community.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Indigenous Consulting (PIC), leading a consortium comprising the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council and Queenslanders with Disability Network, developed the Toolkit following consultation with six rural and remote communities to gain a clearer understanding of readiness within communities and the possibilities for local development in preparation for the NDIS roll out.
