Brisbane City Council is hosting Songkran Thai New Year in Chinatown Mall on Saturday 13 April. Songkran is Thailand's most famous festival on the Buddhist calendar and marks the beginning of the traditional Thai New Year. The festival will feature a range of activities and events to celebrate cultural diversity and showcase the cultures of Thailand and South East Asia. There will be a variety of South East Asian inspired performances including bathing of the Buddha image, traditional music, dances, workshops, roving acts, along with market stalls.
